Website Operating Manual

CORONAVIRUS

WITH ALL EVENTS CANCELLED THOSE THAT ARE SHOWN ON THE EVENTS

AND PAST EVENTS PAGES ARE THERE AS EXAMPLES.

If any errors are found in this manual or you would like something adding  kindly email webmaster@ytcc.uk

THIS IS YOUR WEBSITE AND IT WOULD BE APPRECIATED IF YOU COULD SUPPLY YOUR PROFILE AND EITHER ONE OR MULTIPLES OF THREE PICTURES FOR THE MEMBERS PAGE.  PICTURES TAKEN AT SHOWS AND CAFES CAN BE SENT TO webmaster@ytcc.uk FOR INCLUSION IN THE GALLERIES

NOTE on the password system. The system will remember your user name and password, once entered you can just click "sign in",  if it fails then you should type in the new password that you will have been informed of.  The system will "remember" your login for a while so if you go to the protected page before it resets you will not be asked the username & password again.  FOR THIS REASON DO NOT GO TO THE PROTECTED PAGE ON A PUBLIC COMPUTER SUCH AS USED IN INTERNET CAFE'S.

1) All links to external websites will open the site in a new tab. (except, for some unkown reason the voting page in members only section)

2) Any web addresses in text will open the selected site on this tab. Arrow back to return.

3) The Members, Events, Articles & Links pages have menus at the top so you select what you wish to see. These pages have a lot of information and the menus are the quickest way to find what you want. However you can scroll down if you wish.

4) The Events page is in three sections. The events have a rolling 12 months event data and are transferred to Past Events when the month has past. The Meeting Place section has the 4 locations the club uses and maps can be viewed. The final section is the Forms. If an Event requires an entry form and it's on the internet it will be downloaded in this section. The description of the event will say if a form is available. Some shows have club area books and our Events Manager will book these.

5) The pictures in the two Galleries (People and Cars & elswhere) can be enlarged by clicking on them. To close the large picture click the "X" at the top right. This is worth doing as the small pictures are "cropped" and the edges of the picture can't be seen

6)   We now have a contact form which is reached from the contacts page

7) The Members Only page will transfer you to a different server (hence the page looks different). Enter the correct user name & password (which will be changed every 3 months) and you gain access to the list of members, home and mobile phone numbers and email addresses. At the top of this page are six buttons, one will return you to the home page of the website, the other 5 to pages we can use to make the club more efficient. The explanation of the use of these forms is on the menu. If you have an issue you wish raising at the next meeting email webmaster@symgoc.uk and it will be added.  From any of the pages arrow back to get to our data or click the return to symgoc button to exit the secure server. The forms should open in new pages, but for some uknown reason the voting form doesn't. As we are using the free version of forms software it has adverts

8) The pages with lots of data (Members, Events and Articles) have small buttons market "TOP". Clicking these buttons will take you to the top of that page. All pages have the "TOP" button at the foot of the page. When you have clicked [submit] arrow back if you want to make another submission or just close the window.

9) Please infom me if your phone numbers or email adress change.

10) See item 7.

11) See item 7.

12) A calendar has been added. Events will be posted on it so we can have a view of the schedule of events.

 13)

EXPLANATION ON THE USE OF FORMS

Submit agenda items.

There are occasions where it would be useful if members had advance notice of something that will be raised at the next meeting.

A good example of this was Norman’s suggestion last September that we visit Gaydon, the Motor Heritage Museum near Coventry. It was discussed and Norman was asked to raise it the following spring as it was a big decision for members to make and it would be too late in the year to decide at the next meeting. Had we had this facility and Norman had posted it and everyone had seen it, we could have made a decision in September.

Submit attendance to events

This is ONLY for events where we meet at one of the four meeting places. However, by recording that you are going to an event may encourage others to attend.

There are two reasons for building a list of members going to an event. One is that those at the meeting point know who is attending and, therefore know who to wait for if they aren’t there by the agreed setting off time. Second is that if members can see an event is well attended, they may feel inclined to join in.

Voting

This will probably never be used but may be of use at some time in the future. It was conceived during the Corona epidemic “lock down” where we couldn’t meet for several months
