Ian & Carol Bertie

Ian and Carol live in Castleford, near to Xscape.

Ian has over 30 years’ experience in Supply Chain / Logistics, whereas Carol has just celebrated her 40th year with the same company in the banking sector.

Ian is a “local” lad originally from Doncaster whereas Carol had to get her “passport” stamped to come north as originally from Luton.

Ian has various pastimes from golf to playing pool for the local pub and Carol is into crafting and photography (takes on average 2,000 on every holiday).

The purchase of the 1936 MG TA in September 2019, is their first venture into the realms of Vintage Cars and is going to be a steep learning curve for Ian as he has no real mechanical experience.

Norman & Lynne Verona

Norman & Lynne Verona were both born in the East End of London and are true Cockneys. They moved to Sheffield in 1991, then retired to France in 2005 moving back to the UK in 2017. They now live in Royston Barnsley. Norman served his apprenticeship at University Motors from 1961 to 1966. He moved off the shop floor and ended up as a director of a small dealer group with Nissan and Renault franchises. In 1980 Norman, the owner and company secretary of the dealer group formed a computer company and designed a Dealer Management System for car dealers. That business is now run by the Verona's son, Simon. Norman has a fully restored 1949 MG TC, A 1971 MGB, a 1989 Caterham 7 with a Cosworth BDR engine (220 BHP, weighs 500 kgs!), an MG TF 160 and his daily car a very yellow Lotus Elise 220 sport. Lynne poodles around in a 2014 Mini Cooper S!

 Louise & Steve Wallace

Steve is a research chemist by training, having gained a PhD from Leeds University in the 1980's and (more significantly) becoming an honorary Yorkshireman at the same time.  Following a career mostly in Brownfield regeneration (cleaning up old town gas manufacturing sites) he is now a trustee of Sherwood Observatory and spends his time delivering astronomy outreach, studying for a degree in astronomy, and managing a project to convert a disused underground Victorian reservoir into a Science Discovery Centre and Planetarium.

All of that means that it's slow progress on the complete ground up restoration of his TC.  However, the chassis, running gear, engine, gearbox, differential and tub have been rebuilt and the next challenge is to restore the dashboard and wings.  Previous experience has been to build a kit car which sports a 2.8l straight six BMW engine.
